Thyme Thymus vulgaris Lamiaceae
A perennial shrub that is native to the Mediterranean region, also known as common thyme, garden thyme or German thyme. It has very odoriferous and small leaves, greenish grey in colour and flowers that may have purple, lilac-pink to white shades. Its essential oil is rich in thymol, a pleasant-smelling substance with antiseptic properties, used in perfumes, soaps, toothpastes and cosmetics.
