Arouquesa Cow Bos taurus Bovidae

Native to the mountainous slopes between the Douro and Vouga valleys, this native bovine breed is named after the municipality of Arouca. Due to its physical strength it can adapt to the mountainous region’s harsh climate and scarce grazing resources, feeding on spontaneous vegetation such as gorse and broom sprouts. Its coat can have various shades of brown.
