Of all land mammals, horses have the biggest eyes, giving them excellent day and night vision. They have the specific characteristic of being able to sleep while they are both standing and lying down. In female horses, the gestation period is 11 months. Horses have an average life expectancy of 25 to 30 years. On sunny days, the mare “Rola”, that lives in the Park, can be seen grazing at the Prado Grande (main meadow) in Serralves Farm.
