Lemongrass Cymbopogon citratus Poaceae
This perennial plant, also known as West Indian lemon grass, is native to Southeast Asia. It rarely produces flowers and is primarily propagated through stolons (stems of horizontal growth). Its leaves have analgesic, antipyretic, diuretic, calming, antidepressant, expectorant and bactericidal properties. It can be consumed as an infusion and may also be used as an insect repellent.
