Cherry Tree Prunus avium Rosaceae

Native to Europe and Asia, this species of deciduous tree is also known as wild cherry, bird cherry, sweet cherry or gean. It is grown for its high-quality wood and its highly appreciated fruits - cherries. These fruits are easily consumed by several species of birds and mammals, which digest the pulp and disperse the seeds. They are rich in antioxidants, carotenoids and vitamins A and C.
