Pea Pisum sativum Fabaceae

This legume is one of the oldest cultivated plants. There are bush and climbing varieties, wherein the latter need supporting poles. It produces pods from which the peas are extracted, which can be of two types: smooth or rough. The smooth peas ripen earlier but have a smaller size, while the rough peas are larger and have a sweeter taste.
