Oxheart Tomato Solanum lycopersicum Solanaceae

Native to Central and South America, tomatoes are one of the most diverse crops, of which thousands of varieties are known. One of the most appreciated varieties in Portugal is the oxheart tomato. It is a large, fleshy and irregularly-shaped tomato, which is rich in vitamin C and lycopene, an antioxidant that gives it its red colour.
