Absinthe Artemisia absinthium Asteraceae

Also known as wormwood, grand wormwood, absinthium, mugwort, wermout, wermud, wormit or wormod, it is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Europe and Asia. Its leaves and flowers are used to produce the alcoholic beverage, absinthe. Although this plant has anthelmintic, antiseptic and antipyretic properties, it can be toxic in high doses. As a result, like other aromatic, medicinal and spice plants, absinthe should be consumed prudently.
