As Espécies da Quinta

Rosemary Salvia rosmarinus Lamiaceae

An evergreen shrub with a woody stem that grows up to 2 m in height. Native to the Mediterranean region, rosemary is adapted to a hot and dry climate. Its thin, small and waxy leaves have a reduced contact surface with the air, which decreases water loss. It is used as flavouring for meat, vegetables, oils, biscuits and jams. The nectar of its flowers attracts honey bees that produce the highly appreciated rosemary honey.
