Coriander Coriandrum sativum Apiaceae

Also known as cilantro, Chinese parsley or dhania, this annual herbaceous plant is native to the Mediterranean region. The leaves are used as a condiment and have a refreshing and complex aroma. The seeds are also edible, and have a different citrus floral flavour than that of the leaves. Its essential oil, which is used in liqueurs and perfumery, contains linalool that gives coriander its characteristic aroma and flavour.
